Set up a custom domain

A domain name is the URL or web address where visitors will find your video landing page (web page with your video).

By default, each video landing page on fyyn.io is accessible through the following domain app.fyyn.io.

(For example, the full web address for one of your videos would look like this: https://app.fyyn.io/v/TyJ2Gtd2nW0)

With custom domains you can make your videos available under your own domain name not originating from fyyn.io (e.g. www.customdomain.com or video.example.com)

fyyn.io supports all top-level domains in custom domains.

To use a custom domain, an upgrade to the “Pro” version or higher is required.

Instructions for setting up a custom domain on an external DNS server

To point a sub-domain like video.mycompany.com or www.mycompany.com to your fyyn.io videos, you need to create a CNAME record with your DNS provider.

If you want to assign a custom domain to your videos, you need to configure your external DNS provider (web hoster, etc.) so that your domain points to fyyn.io. For this, you need to have the necessary user rights to edit the DNS settings at your provider.

Setting up a subdomain

To point a sub-domain like video.mycompany.com or www.mycompany.com to your fyyn.io videos, you need to create a CNAME record with your DNS provider.

Example: The domain of your videos should be video.mycompany.com.

Go to the DNS settings of your DNS provider (provider, etc.) for your Apex domain, mycompany.com.

  • Add a CNAME record with your subdomain, “video”, as the host.
  • Point the entry to the fyyn.io sub-domain, customdomain.prod.fyyn.io .
  • Save the settings. It may take a whole day for the settings to propagate through the global domain name system.
  • Go to the “https://app.fyyn.io/de/my/settings/custom-domain” page and enter your chosen domain name in the input field under “your domain name”. Confirm your entry by pressing the save button.
  • After pressing the save button, your domain will be set up. As soon as the setup is finished and your domain is accessible, this will be shown to you.
  • If any of the checks are not successful, please repeat the check again after a few minutes.
